About

Who Am I?

I guess we will consider this my first blog post. I’ll use this to tell you a little about myself and how the blog will be run.

My name is Tyson Nichols or tynick for short. I’m a Linux and AWS System Administrator for a living.

I also do a lot of nerd stuff at home for fun. I have a homelab with a 25u rack that I frequently tinker with. 2 of my other main hobbies are Raspberry Pi projects and home automation.

The reason I started the site was to document things as I do them because it helps me learn quicker. Unless otherwise noted, I will try to assume you know nothing about the subject and try to explain everything from the beginning to the end.

Hopefully this helps the people that are just getting started. We we’re all there at one point. Feel free to skip ahead in a post if you already know something.

Another passion is BBQ and smoking food. Mostly large chunks of beef and pork ribs but sometimes I’ll smoke a turkey or chicken.

The blog will focus on Linux, AWS, System Administration, Raspberry Pi Projects, Homelabs and Home Automation.

I’ll try to keep everything organized with tags to make it easy for you to find whatever you are looking for.

I’m not the greatest writer in the world but I do know the difference between they're, there and their.

I have a dry and sarcastic sense of humor and it will probably show in my articles. It’s going to be a bummer for you if you can’t tell when it happens.

I should also mention that any links to Amazon will earn me a small commission if you purchase. This helps me keep the site up and running. I appreciate you very much if you purchase through my links. Hopefully the article helped you in some way.

Enjoy!
